Majestic Mountains

My husband and I recently drove through the Canadian Rocky Mountains. As we approached the foothills, we could see the snow-capped peaks in the distance. As we got closer, the peaks loomed higher—majestic, magnificent.

At times, the majesty of the mountains was overwhelming in their grandeur, towering above us thousands of feet into the air. Each twist and turn in the road revealed a new sight of enormous trees, sheer cliffs, lush valleys, and high mountain peaks.

As we journeyed along the roadway, the lyrics of the chorus “Majesty” resonated within me, reminding me of God's beautiful creation for us to cherish. The mountains, like Jesus's majesty, inspire awe in me. The song urges us to give honour, glory, and praise, a natural response to the magnificence of God’s glorious creation that we are privileged to witness and be a part of.

In the splendour of it all, it is easy to feel small and insignificant when faced with the majestic mountain landscape God has created for us to enjoy.

“The Lord is king! He is robed in majesty. Indeed, the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.” (Psalm 93:1 NLT)

Even though God created the heavens and the earth,

the universe and the depths of oceans,

he still knows each of us intimately.

But the bible tells us that even though God created the heavens and the earth, the universe and the depths of oceans, he still knows each of us intimately. The hairs on my head are numbered (Matthew 10:30). God knew me in my mother’s womb as he formed and created me (Psalm 139:13-16). Isn’t believing such an omnipotent God could still care for you personally awe-inspiring? But he does.

He loves you and cares about you. He created you for a purpose and is interested in your life even as he keeps the world spinning on its axis and the stars in the sky.

As we worship and magnify the Lord, praising his magnificent creation and intimate relationship, we can genuinely exalt his majesty over all heaven and earth and proclaim him King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
